Resume Preparation
Effective resumes are imperative, because your resume is your most important tool to get noticed, and to get invited to an interview. Here are some tips for successful resume preparation:
| • |
Be honest, and try to represent yourself in as positive a light as you can, but do not fabricate education or experience just to get to the interview. |
| • |
The size of your resume is not as relevant as the quality of your resume. If you have a lot of experience that is relevant to the position you are applying for, then include it, even if the resume extends to 3-6 pages. |
| • |
Include a short overview of yourself, highlighting your strengths, and the value you can bring to your future employer. |
| • |
Pay attention to clarity, and correctness - check for spelling and grammatical mistakes. |
| • |
Format the resume so that a busy person can visually scan your resume in seconds, and can quickly obtain a good summary of your strengths and skills. |
